I just want to let everyone know we do have a team meeting this Thursday night December 19th. The meeting will take place at Calloway County High in room 408 at 6:30 p.m. Participants can enter from the North West corner of the building as in previous meetings.
I know that many of you are studying for various test and exams just days before the break and if you can’t make it to the meeting I understand. I am trying to work out the details for us to do the tandem bike team building activity. Depending on the weather we may just ride the bike out in the parking lot. I have other details to share and we will be setting a date for one more meeting before the kickoff.
I will see everyone Thursday. J. Slaton
After some discussion with Ginny Harper we have decided NOT to have the team walk in the Christmas Parade scheduled for tomorrow (December 14th). I and a few other team members had discussed attending the regional FIRST LEGO League competition in Paducah Kentucky and Ginny felt we needed to attend that event instead. The event is scheduled for tomorrow and we were scheduled to help in anyway we can. We may also bring our FRC robot to the event for demos. The weather has been a real issue also and has factored into our decision. I hope this has not created any issues.
Please check this site for our meeting planned for next week.
Thank You! Jeff
I had planned on hosting a meeting tonight (Dec. 10th) but I have a conflict which I cannot work around. Our next scheduled meeting is Thursday night December 12th. 6:30 p.m. at CCHS. Remember the nearest entrance to my classroom is the entrance on the Northwest corner near the garbage dumpsters. Each meeting from here on into the January 4th kickoff is important.
Just a reminder that students who are planning on participating on the FIRST Robotics Team for the 2014 season must pay the $40 participation fee. Through the various orientation meetings we have had this fall the fee was discussed but some students who have participated lately may not be aware. In short, we were lucky to have been heavily grant funded over the last three seasons but this season our sponsorships are limited and our funding is tight. As a result I, the mentors and our 4H sponsor felt it necessary that we charge each participating student the $40 fee to help with overall cost. There are no student exceptions to the fee. Feel free to contact me if you have questions. See you guys Thursday night. Thanks! Jeff
Please note that the Superintendent of the Calloway County School system has asked that we cancel all after school activities for this evening. Thus, our robotics team meeting for tonight (December 5th) has been canceled. Thanks, Jeff Slaton
FIRST Robotics TEAM 3843,
The kick-off of the 2014 season is near. The meetings between now and then are important for a variety of reasons and I encourage students who plan on participating this season to make every effort to attend. We will have a meeting this Thursday evening November 21st at 6:30 p.m. at Calloway County High School. The meeting will take place in my classroom (room 408). The easiest way to get to room 408 is to enter the building from the northwest corner under the blue awning near the dumpsters. My room is next to that entrance and someone will let you in the door. There will be students and mentors attending and we have several items to discuss. The meeting will conclude by 8 p.m. Please do try to attend. If you know of other students who are interested in attending please pass the word along and encourage them to attend. Parents are welcome to attend but not required.
Thank You! See you guys Thursday.

To all Robo Racers,
Mrs. Ginny Harper needs help with career day on May 6,8,and 10th. If you are able to help that day, please contact her. It is public speaking about our robot to 4th and 5th graders. Please help if you can.
We had a wonderful set of matches today! We played 8 games, and we have 6 wins and 2 losses. Our autonomous was great, our climbing was great and our shooter was unstoppable. We were ranked 2nd at the 4th match. That match, our alliance scored 164 points! We were partnered with the team 4265 Wildbots from Oak Ridge, Tennessee and team 2614 Mountaineer Area Robotics (M.A.R.S) from Morgantown, West Virginia. They were great teams with a great compassion for building robots! Hope them great luck tomorrow and in later events. Also thanks for making the great show with us!!
All Team 3843 teammates:
